Tasting - Ilurce Tempranillo

Name: Ilurce Tempranillo
Variety: Tempranillo
Region: Rioja
Country: Spain
Year: 2008
Price: $14.00
Shop Review: "Dark purple. Zesty, youthfully medicinal aromas of dark berries, licorice and cracked pepper. Juicy and fresh, with smooth texture and sweet cherry and spice flavors framed by dusty tannins. Finishes with a suggestion of slightly roasted fruits and good clinging persistence. Delivers a lot of power and richness for the money."
My Review: This wine had a brown-looking color, a very dark burgundy. It made a thin coating around the glass when I swirled it. It smelled fruity, like grape juice. Initially the wine tasted sweet, but to me it had a dry finish. It was medium-bodied with what seemed like a strong alcohol content. Wasn't sure how I felt about this wine. Was not paired with any food.
